The Quest for a Viable iOS RAW Workflow

I'm on a quest to find a viable RAW workflow on iOS. Why? Because the iPad Pro is a phenomenal machine, there are incredible iOS image editing apps that I want to integrate in my workflow, and like it or not, the days of desktop and laptop computers are numbered, so we may as well be in the forefront of this push.

Viewing Image Metadata in Photos and iOS 8

One of the features iPhoto for iOS users loved was the ability to see your image metadata — the exposure, date and time of capture, and if GPS data was embedded, where the photo was shot. This feature disappeared with iPhoto, and Photos for iOS doesn’t (yet) have it. Fortunately at least two third parties have stepped in to fill the void.

Converting from iPhoto to Photos in iOS 8

If you were an iPhoto on iOS user, once upgrading to iOS 8, iPhoto will no longer run. Pictures will move and edits will convert, but not all the features of iPhoto are in Photos. In fact, if you rely on iPhoto, you may want to hold off upgrading to iOS 8. Read on to see what does, and what doesn’t, carry over.
