Capture One Pro was recently updated to 8.2. The headline for the app claims that it's the “Most advanced color grading options of any RAW converter”. Sounds good to me! Here's more of what they have to say:

“Capture One Pro 8.2 marks the next step in Phase One’s continuous effort in delivering high quality tools for professional photographers. The new 3-Way Color Balance Tool requires no knowledge of color blending to create beautifully color graded images. Color tone changes can be made in the shadows, the highlights or the mid-tones, giving you a quick and powerful way to create beautiful images.

Dynamic Locations will supercharge your workflow. Now the location of processed images, or the location of imported images, can be dynamically modified, simply by using a new set of Tokens. For example, files can be sorted automatically based on a star rating, color tag, variant position and many other useful criteria, so you can organize yourself better and faster.”

Check out their overall marketing video. You'll notice in the closing “feature cloud”, that “Aperture Library Import” is quite prominent. I wonder if it's always been that way?

Here's a look at the new color grading tool. It separates HSL (Hue, Saturation, Luminance) and further separates those into shadows, midtones and highlights. It's certainly impressive.

And here are the highlights from their release notes PDF.

From the perspective of a person who has primarily done motion color correction, this is pretty cool.

Call me crazy, but is this 3-way color correction tool not the same as the tint adjustments in Aperture, where you can correct a color cast for black/grey/white separately in whatever direction you wanted?

I never found a use for it and C1’s interface seems to work much better than the miniature colorwheels in Aperture, but the basics are the same, or am I missing something here?

Joseph: I believe the ad you linked to above is a new one and that the “Import from Aperture” feature is, in fact, more emphasized than before–together with the demonstration of an Aperture like customizability. There are a lot of Aperture users over on the C1 Forum and C1 does seem to me to be devoting significant attention to listening to their perspectives in switching over to C1.

Just happened to find this site Image Alchemist: http://imagealchemist.net that is packed full of C1 information including new features in 8.2. Also an in-depth section on Catalogs and Sessions and much more.
