I merged my iPhoto library (within Aperture) with my current Aperture library…works well in Aperture. When opening iPhoto and switching to the now new “master” Aperture library, iPhoto opens from the re-launch, but crashes after 3 seconds. My software is current and also running 10.8.1 OS

Try doing a database repair in Aperture, then see if the library works better in iPhoto. Instructions can be found in the FAQ.
