The YoloBox mini. With one HDMI input.

And now… The YoloBox Extreme, with one two three four five six seven EIGHT HDMI inputs; five of them capable of 4K 60p.

This is the new YoloBox Extreme; the latest all-in-one live streaming solution from YoloLiv. This video is a quick “what's new”, but I'm already working on an in-depth exploration of all of its functions. It's an impressive little box, no doubt.

But, not so little! It has an 11.2 inch OLED touch screen, with 2.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nit brightness, making it viewable even in direct sunlight. It's positively massive, and similar screen size to an iPad Air.

Let's talk about inputs. It's got a lot.

It has eight HDMI inputs, five of which are 4K60 capable. It has SIX NDI HX inputs, for wireless cameras. And two USB inputs for webcams.

With 4K60p inputs, of course it can stream in 4K60 as well.

The YoloBox Extreme also has two HDMI outputs, a first on a YoloBox. These are assignable to Program, a highly customizable Multiview, or to a specific input.

While all the YoloBoxes have an ethernet port, a SIM slot for a dedicated LTE connection, and built-in wifi, the Extreme is the first to have external antennas, expanding wireless range up to 90 meters, or 300 feet. These are optional, can be attached as needed to extend range for both WiFi and NDI use, and are included in the box.

The built-in battery is the longest lasting of any YoloBox, with up to ten hours of life. Ultimately, battery life depends on what you're doing with the YoloBox; the more you ask of it, the more power it requires.

The Extreme is the second YoloBox to feature ISO recording, and the first to do it in 4K. It can capture up to four 4K30p or five 1080p60 ISO streams. This means it also supports Instant Replay with more angles, using any of those ISO recorded streams – even in 4K.

It has a new Director Mode, otherwise known as a preview/program mode. You can opt to switch to camera angles immediately, or load any camera angle into a preview monitor first before bringing it live to air.

For the ultimate TikTok or Instagram live stream, Vertical streaming will be coming to the Extreme soon.

The CPU has been upgraded significantly to power all these additional features, with the QualComm Snapdragon 8, Gen 2 chip, and the interface now has a CPU usage monitor in the corner of the screen so you can keep an eye on how hard you're taxing the system. Because so much of this is software driven, limitations of how many streams you can record, or how many 4K signals can be processed, is all determined by what else the unit is doing. Now you can finally see exactly what additional draw is added as you enable different capabilities, helping you to plan a successful live stream.

There's an impressive brand new user interface that is easier to navigate than ever, and should feel familiar to any smartphone user.

Not new, but still worth mentioning… its USB-C port can be used for webcam output, meaning you can plug this into your computer as a camera interface for Zoom calls, or the port can be used for external storage. It has both mic level and line level audio inputs, and a headphone port. It charges over USB-C and can run off a sufficiently powerful external battery if the built-in one isn't enough. It has an SD card slot for playing back still images, graphics, and videos, and recording your show and ISO streams. It has a ¼-20 port on the bottom for easy mounting on a tripod or anywhere else. The USB ports can also be used for SIM card dongles, and with an additional service you can aggregate multiple cellular, WiFi and LAN connections for an even more reliable stream. It features automatic video-follows-audio, meaning an interview or podcast can auto-switch camera angles depending on who's talking… has a powerful audio mixer, SRT support, can be controlled over a web browser, has a free built-in web URL overlay, scoreboard feature for live sports, live comments integration, an easy chroma-key (green screen) solution, gets regular software updates, and of course supports the YoloDeck hardware. And, you can simultaneously stream to three platforms at the same time for free, or more platforms with a subscription, using YoloLiv's YoloCast service.

This was just a quick overview of the new YoloBox Extreme. I'm working on a much longer, in-depth tour to dive into how every feature works.
