6K photo was what made me decide buying the GH5 instead of other camera
Will the focus stacking on this camera work on a maual focus lens?
I use a camera attached to a microscope for photography for my work ( I am a dentist) . So basically its the body of the camera attached to the microscope. The microscope acts as a lens ( which has only manual focus ) Was wondering if the focus stacking mode on this will work in such a set up.

No, the whole method of this working is that the camera controls the focus engine. You can still focus stack in photoshop though by manually adjusting focus and shooting multiple shots.
Thanks for the video. Do you know if you take multiple focus stacks and merge them later in the camera?
Any info is this focus stacking limited to Lumix lenses? I have gh5 and zuiko 60 macro, but focus stacked images look weird - main problem is repeated features at edges - just like gh5 does not take into account focus breathing of the lens. And there are usually disturbing holes in the background. In computer software most of images can be stacked, but 0 (from ~50) fine results stacked in camera so far.

I don't know if it is or isn't limited to Panasonic lenses but I doubt it. As long as it can control AF I'd think it'd work. Have you tried a variety of scenes? I've seen those same anomalies in in-camera focus stacks before as well.
If I shoot in 6k photo mode, how can I pick the images that I want in post? I do not want to do it in the camera but the 'video' files won't import into Lightroom, and I don't see any images in Photoshop or Premiere Pro. Advice?

Hi, I have GH5 and before had GH4. I used in GH4 4K/photo. I could open this file .mp4 in computer (macbook pro). With GH5 its not supported? I cant check and edit 6K/4K photo mp4 file in computer? I can choose pictures only in body GH5? Thank you for answer
+Lukas Vogeltanz 6K/4K Photo files are H.265 which for some unfathomable reason isn't yet supported by QuickTime. There are converters but I haven't tried any yet. So yeah… in-camera for now.

I'm using a GX8 and thinking to upgrade to a GH5. My usage is 80% stills and 20% 4k video - 20-30% for clients the rest for private usage.
Have a couple of questions:
1.) What’s the buffer size for RAW shooting in the GH5? I'm using a Lexar UHS II card if this is important.
2.) Is the GH5 also lowering the EVF resolution when shooting in AFC @ high frame rate?
3.) How long is the black out time for the EVF in comparison to the GX8?
4.) Can you combine exposure bracketing with the 2s self-timer for night shooting? In the GX8 these settings share the same menu.
5.) When using the Custom Modes (C1 - C3): Is the GH5 also "loosing" the changed settings when turned off? I use C1 for a flash setup (mechanical shutter on, ISO Auto off, shutter speed 1/80) and if I dial in some changes (like speed to 1/125) and turn the GX8 off and back on, the settings are always reset to the defaults - what drives me nuts sometimes special when I shoot events.
6.) Is there a one touch 100% zoom in playback mode? The GX8 zooms in by double touch the display, but unfortunately not to the 100% (8x) setting like my Nikon bodies do.
7.) Is there a way to configurate the playback options in the menu and they stay that way? Pressing the DISP button by accident changes the settings every time on the GX8 and make the usage harder than necessary.

I must have missed it. How do you setup for 6k focus stacking again? Since the knob could only be set either 6K or focus stacking. Thanks.
+Huan Pham The knob has two positions for this; 6K/4K Photo Mode, and Post Focus/Focus Stack mode. When in focus stacking mode, you can choose between 4K and 6K

Can't see how to edit a previous post, but I forgot to mention I really like using the mono B&W view for macro as it is sometimes easier to see peaking in mono view.
If you are looking for ideas for future videos any chance of one showing how to setup the custom menu, as this would be a help for G85 users as well. I tried to drag and drop options like in the manual but botched it up some how.

yeah I think you're right; I confused it with stitching and exposure blending. So just photoshop can do this... And like you mention Joseph, other dedicated apps. I did some research on Photoshop elements (as I got curious) and it does not have it standard but there are plugins for it floating around.
+iris shields I don't think Lightroom does focus stacking, does it? It'll build HDR and panoramas natively, but focus stacking?
+Dan Oh Photoshop and also dedicated apps; just google it. I've only ever used Photoshop though.
Not quite sure what you mean by "third party desktop" software but both Photoshop and Lightroom can as long as you provide the images with the different focus areas.
