One improvement with Luminar 1.2 is that when used as a plugin in Photos – it actually opens and processes the RAW file rather than having Photos send over a jpg. Takes somewhat longer but you get a "RAW processing;" and a progress bar. Of course all that really accomplishes it eliminating the need to use "External Editors" instead. Hanging in there with Photos…
Are you sure Jim? Does Luminar open a RAW but save a jpeg? When I open a RAW file in Luminar from Photos I have a jpeg when I'm finished.
I miss Aperture - its colour interpretation of Panasonic raw files was much nicer than Lightroom's. But even iPhoto allows ratings, which is why I haven't shifted my boy's photo catalogue to Apple Photo.
