In this first look at the iPhone 7 Plus dual camera “Portrait Mode”, I go out with model Keasha Brown http://instagram.com/keashabrowntown to test it out! See THROUGH THE IPHONE as I shoot these pictures… this is the best way to see just what the feature looks like!
Now since the iPhone SE 2 has come out, we know that portrait mode can be done without a dual camera😂😂

I recently bought an iphone 8 some days ago, but I'm not seeing the portrait mode. A quick google search said that portrait mode isn't available for the iphone 8, but the plus versions of the 7 and 8? Can anyone confirm and possibly explain why this is so, IF it is true? That aside...GREAT video!

Correct; it needs the dual cameras. The plus iPhones have dual cameras but not the standard ones.

+Arash Nikkhah you can't capture RAW using the built in camera app, and while third party apps can use both cameras, AFAIK so far no one has done anything like this Portrait Mode yet. That's Apple's own thing, at least for now. But someone else could develop something like it for sure.

Out of the Google pixel xl, samsung s7, lg v20, iPhone 7 plus etc, which one do you think is the superior all around phone??? Also Besides the boca feature, how else does this camera distance itself from other cellphones. I'm still on the ropes about upgrading (already ordered a 7 plus btw) my galaxy note 4 btw, and just was wondering do you think the iPhone 7 will be able to fill that "HUMONGOUS" void???
That question can spark religious war ;-) Look, I'm not a "phone tester" and have only ever used iPhones. I'm a photographer. I love the iPhone; always have. There are some phenomenal phones coming from Samsung and Google these days, no doubt about it. If the camera is the most important thing to you, then yes the iPhone is one of the best. DxO Labs called the Pixel's phone a little bit better, however they don't have the "portrait mode" which to me is a huge win for Apple. I'm biased to iPhone and iOS. And, I used to work at Apple, so it's in my blood.

A sensor that small can produce much more noise than a DSLR. I think thats why its so noisey.
+Mr.Vern I think there's more too it than that because I don't normally see that much noise in that kind of light from the iPhone. I will have to do some more tests!

Wow. Now I'm sorry I got the 7 and not 7 Plus. But for practical purposes and carrying around the 7 made more sense. Maybe when my upgrade is due again I'll go bigger. That is some awesome technology!
+Florian Cortese oh and it's a bit big for the front pocket, in a "are you happy to see me or is that just an iPhone 7 Plus in your pocket?" sorta way ;-)
+Florian Cortese Back pocket, yes. And right, never sit in it :-) The Apple Watch helps here too. I will leave it on my desk most of the day and can respond to messages from the watch.
So, you carry it in your back pocket I take it. Then remove it every time you sit down? Does it sit well in your front pocket? I carry my 7 in my left front pocket
+Florian Cortese I struggled with that decision but got used to the bigger phone pretty quickly. I had the 6 Plus, then for a few months due to fumbly fingers I destroyed my 6 Plus and used a 6 for a bit while waiting for the 7 to come out. I really liked the smaller size while in my pocket but quickly missed the bigger screen. In the 6 series, the standout unique feature of the Plus was image stabilization for video. That's in both 7 models now but of course the dual camera is Plus only. I love the bigger size screen and there's no going back for me!
