It's Q&A time… if you asked a big question in the last week and I tagged your comment for answering, this is where you'll find it!

on my gh5 i cant control the exposure it controls the shutter angle
ive been going crazy seeing so much noise in my shots and i couldn't understand why, then i thought to check my tv settings it was on vivid and when i set it back to computer as a profile everything made sense again in the world lol lol.
+Double Edge Ministries That is a setting. Shutter speed (time) or angle.
Thank you so much, Joseph, for replying me in your video. I'll wait very anxious for that HSS video! Keep going! Very useful and fun as always. Thanks.
Shooting 4K60 and slowing it down 50% on a 30 fps timeline is exactly the same as shooting 4K30 VFR at 60. Either way you're not creating any interpolated frames and producing 4K30 output video.
+Quentin Smith Correct, except that on the GH5, you get no audio when shooting VFR. So if you want to shoot normally and be able to slow down to 50% on a whim after the shoot, shooting 60p (nonVFR) is the way to go!
Even though when I sold off my Canons and switched to mirrorless, I chose Fuji, I follow your videos here for mirrorless and app tips and ideas. Thanks loads for this one – I use the front dial for exposure compensation on my X-t2 but, since it is not mentioned in the manual, I assumed it didn't work on videos. After watching this I ran a test and it does work. Cool.
Jim Craig I checked the Fuji out also but I miss the IBIS and touchscreen on it. Maybe in the future.... how do you like Xt2 vs GH5?
+Jim Craig Awesome! Glad to hear that and thanks for watching :-)
Is there any way to reprogram that back dial to control the gain/ISO in manual movie mode? I don't want to change my shutter often in movie mode, but having the back dial for ISO control would be very useful. I can't find anywhere in the menu where I can reprogram it.

That was me that asked the question about the exposure compensation on the rear dial. I already had my camera set that way and it works fine for stills but it does not seem to work in video recording. When I'm in P mode for video for example, if I start recording video while the mode dial is still on A for stills aperture mode, the rear dial no longer works for exposure comp while I'm recording video. However, I did confirm that if I move the dial to video mode, the rear dial does then work for exposure compensation. Just won't work for exposure compensation in video recording if you have the mode dial in something other than the video mode. I do wish it worked with the more dial on A though since that's where I'm usually at.
PhotoJoseph Yes, that's what I mean. Ok, thanks for your help.
+Hooked on Photography Ah, I see. So you're in photo mode shooting video and it stops working there? That's weird. Could be a bug. Please confirm that's what you mean and I'll report it.
@nani jackson: why don't you get Leica 100-400mm f/4.0-6.3 rather canon? You get dual IS2 with GH5 and get fantastic optics.
Big dumb question from big dumb Scotsman:
So I'm planning to shoot at 50p so I can drop it on a 24fps timeline - for slo-mo..
So do I follow the 180-deg rule and shoot at 1/100 (the camera) or 1/50 (The timeline)? What does the world say? My tiny mind is blown trying to work this out.
PS Shot a lot of wind and kite surfing, albeit from the beach (stills) and they are moving fairly fast - or its boring. Check my Instagram.
I tried tracking and C-AF and it turns out motion tracking not required. Just C-AF is fine, and almost always much more reliable. Also, there's usually more than enough light flying around so you can also use a long DOF, which helps enormously.
I haven't shot a whole lot of video of surf, just a couple of hours so far - but when I do, it works the same. C-AF and low f-stop - same as for stills.
Maybe that helps.

That'll be great thanks. I'e been doing some experiments and 'think' I've worked it out - but it still baffles me.
Hope my additional comment about shooting surfers was of at least some help to another viewer.
Gotta go now - feds at the door ;-)

+Graham Cooper I'll answer this in a video mate
PhotoJoseph - Can you do a comparison of the 150mbps IPB vs the new 400mbps All-I codec when it comes out and please include an additional V-Log test when you do the test? Thanks for the great show!
