Could you please suggest a monitor that acts as a field monitor to for iPhone 4k 60 recording ?
@@poetparrot not a recommendation but there’s tons on amazon
@@photojoseph Any cheaper recommendations ?
I primarily use ATOMOS brand monitors
Too much rambling. Tell us what we need to know. Save all the other equipment stuff for the end. I know I know this was 6 years ago.
And live, but hey, thanks for the comment
Thank you for the useful explanation
is there a cheaper alternative to the decimator md-cross?
To do scaling? Possibly. The MD-Cross does a lot more than scaling though and it’s VERY good.
Or, you could just connect your iphone to the mac, open QuickTime Player, choose "New Movie Recording" Opt+CMD+N. From the dropdown arrow on the right side of the round record button, choose iPhone. If you also want the mic from the iPhone you choose it on the same menu. Now, you can record and/or see your iPhone screen in real time.
@@photojoseph Looks like a Mac at 8:00 which is what I was referring to.
What I’m doing in this video is connecting the iPhone to the ATOMOS recorder directly. No computer involved for recording.
@@photojoseph If I'm working on a project, where I need to record my Mac screen and my iPhone at the same time, I use Screenflow, but then I need to connect my iPhone to the Mac. I guess there's a way to make it work through sending the screen to the Mac with Airplay, but I'm not sure and haven't really looked, since I haven't needed to do so yet.
@@photojoseph I believe you have to be connected to the computer in order to use the method described in this video too, but I could be wrong. I use an app called Reflector 3 instead of connecting my iPhone to the Mac if I need to record my iPhone screen, so I usually don't have to think about this.
That works too, as long as you can be connected to a computer.
Bought one to work with the Ninja V but you get no input. Once the iphone 7 Plus goes to sleep it sees an input ???
Help me out here… originally you said once the iPhone went to sleep, “it” (presumably the Ninja V) “sees an input”, which I never really understood. Does that mean the input readout showed up, showing 1080p59.94, but with no image? And then when the phone as awake, you saw nothing on the Ninja; not even the resolution reading? But now you’re saying it’s flickering. That’s different and that’s something I’ve seen before. As soon as you said “flickering” that reminded me that I’ve seen the flickering on my Atomos Ninja Inferno. I reverted to using the Ninja Assassin and that worked fine. I could never get it to work right on the Inferno; the signal flickered and was totally unreliable. So now I’m wondering if this is some new chipset that doesn’t like the iPhone signal. If the iPhone signal is showing up on your TV then I don’t think it’s the Apple HDMI to Lightning adapter. I’d drop Atomos a support email. They’re pretty good actually.
@@photojoseph Still not cracked this one! On the Ninja V input i see it says 59.94 but it is flickering. Tried it on my TV all works fine with all my HDMI leads. Now trying on different phones/ipads. I cant believe it could be a dodgey Apple Digital AV adapter but i guess thats were i go next?
And still nothing works? Crazy. The iPhone outputs 1080p59.94. I can’t imagine the Ninja V doesn’t support that?
@@photojoseph Hi Yes i bought the Apple lightning Digital AV adapter. I have tried all my HDMI cables as i know they can be problomatic but as this is only 1080 should be easier. I also used the V2 HDMI cable that works with my NINJA V and GH5. Thanks for taking the time, Dean
You bought what, the lightning to HDMI adapter? Maybe your HDMI Cable isn’t good? It’s been a while since I’ve done this but I used to do it all the time.
so I have that lightning to HDMI adapter ( yes its apple), and hookup to my iphone 6 plus and then to my Ninja inferno ( no image) just flashes like it wants to display, same with my Ninja Flame... but it does work on my Ninja 2? ...any thoughts?
Having the same issue with the Ninja V

Great job in explaining and showing how to do this. Thank you
