Scrape & Analyze Web Data for Instagram

Photo Moment - August 05, 2019

Data analysis certainly isn't my regular thing, but sometimes you want to go deep when trying to figure out something as simple as what hashtags to use. In this video, I explained my process for discovery, then decision to analyze this data and how I did it, including scraping the web for data, sorting and organizing it, then converting that into hashtag snippets I can easily add to my Instagram posts.

OK, this is about as far down the rabbit hole as I can go LIVE on the air… what did you think? Will you use these tools? Did you learn anything? Am I completely crazy? ;-) Get all the links you need at
That's really useful information, thanks a lot for going through the process!
Nice one Joe! Working smarter not harder. Question is are there any non photography type hash tags that might attract eyeballs as well?

I like your targeted approach. Keep us in the loop as to what it does for your IG following.
Thanks, and of course, there are millions of hashtags for thousands of topics. I focused on photo here because, well, that's what I do!
@PhotoJoseph Sorry didn't make myself clear. Yes I understand it's all about the photography but that doesn't preclude you using non photography but very targeted hashtags to drive traffic and subscribers to your IG account.
Love this! Been trying to do this for months! Lifesaver!
Sweet! Glad someone found this useful ;-)
Wow!!! The nerd is strong within you! Love it
Haha thanks!
