Should photography clients get prints, digital, or both?

Photo Moment - November 07, 2016

When it comes to delivering photos to your photography clients, should you be delivering digital images, prints, or both? Clearly it will depend on many factors but the reasons to include one, the other, or both, may surprise you. In today's Photo Moment, we explore the pros and cons of each idea.

The lab I use for the small prints is A|U (Artifact Uprising): https://www.artifactuprising.com

The lab I use most for regular prints, including the mounted 8x10 you saw here, is Millers Lab: http://www.millerslab.com

Great advice. I was thinking about 8x10 initially until I watched your video. I’m doing this as a no cost practice shoot fir a couple businesses, so it makes sense not to spend on larger print. Good tips on watermarks.
Thanks.
Always learning!!!
Excellent information! Great video. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed!
What if the client wants digital with NO water mark? Suggestions
Then deliver them, or consider charging more. But don’t phrase it that way. You say “the package at $xxx includes digital photos shareable on social media, and if you permit me to include a watermark so your friends and family know who took the photos, I’ll discount the package 10%”.
What size do you export and give your clients for the digital copies? Size for High res + low res for web. Look forward to your reply
There are no rules. You asked what I do :-)
Many people have said 3000 on the long edge.
PhotoJoseph I am new to photography business so in regard to image size like specifically w x h (dimensions) I know which sizes to export for different size prints but if I'm just delivering one high res digital copy of the clients images what is the best standard image size to deliver to them?
I usually deliver full size for print, and 2048 for web
Did you charge them for the prints? If so, how much? Or did you do it on your own?
I usually charge only double or triple the print cost as my primary business isn’t in selling prints.
Very informative and helpful video. I am really intrigued about the wooden back with your logo on it that you delivered to the client. Where did you get that from?
