Streaming with the LUMIX GH4

Photo Moment - January 05, 2017

A viewer asked the following question: “Can I run a down-res'd 4K signal from my GH4's HDMI, and multi channel audio from a mixer (using the Panasonic YAGH base unit) to stream 1080p with embedded audio to YouTube? Also, are there sync issues that need to be resolved externally?” If we're talking streaming, then we're also breaking down how all of the hardware interacts with each other.

thank you for the explanation but I would have been even happier without the high quality slurping audio.
Thank you for this. Sir, how do I clear the screen? My display screen info is on my livestream :-( ty
Press the Disp. (Display) button.
Hi there, you have mentioned that the GH4 outputs live audio from its mic via HDMI. I am using an Elgato Camlink with OBS, but I can't get it to take audio from the camera mic - it just comes through the laptop internal mic. Do you have any other suggestions?
Set your computer to bring in audio from the El Gato — there shouldn’t be anything else to do.
Hi. Thanks for the video. Could you confirm if the HDMI output from the G4 outputs live audio from its mic as well as a clean video feed for live streaming (using a capture card)? Thank you.
@@photojoseph thank you!
GH4 you mean? Yes.
hi i know this might so long ago video explainer but i still have issue with the gh4. i would like to make this camera for live streaming. however i cannot find the hdmi output display setting to make a clean display. please if you could have any solutions would be helpful. thanks
@@photojoseph really appreciated, found it. thanks a lot

Hi Joseph,

How do I set up my Panasonic GH4 for livestream and what are all the parts/software I need to do it?

I saw some people just using a usb cord from their camera to computer, but that isn't working for me. I am struggling.
Hello, I am trying to do exactly that, please did you find a solution ?
I simply plan to use Elgato Cam Link adapter + Elgato Camera Hub software... but you might have discovered something else!?
Thank you in advance !
fucking idiot where is the streaming question
do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
How can the Panasonic serve as a webcam without using an HDMI capture card?
It can’t
I tried to capture the signal from the hdmi output with the August VGB500 Capture Card and it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any experiences with capture cards? Are there differences, so that some of them can capture the signal of an DSLR Camera and other are only able to capture the hdmi feed of games? The card works for capturing the signal of my PS4.
I don't see why that wouldn't work, but I don't have one to test. Make sure your camera is outputting 1920x1080 and check what frame rates the August supports, and again make sure the camera is outputting one of those.
help, how do I live stream with my gh4?
slurps whatever he is drinking...i exit pronto.
My problem at gh4, video and photo not sharp, can you give a solution how to do, thanks
Yeah the Tamron is not a sharp lens. No lens with that much zoom will be very sharp. What Olympus lens are you using?
@@photojoseph im using tamron lenses 16-300mm, with metabobes speedbooster and olympus lenses, this also not sharp, any solution for this issurs, thanks😥
Assuming it’s in focus, perhaps you need a better lens?
? Streaming with the LUMIX GH4? where ?
I use a GH4 as my B-cam sometimes. You can see the entire streaming setup here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRe8DcOhgslp8kbjeTNG0S6KwR6_u_dyt
Are there any problems with GH4 running as a live streaming camera in full HD or 4K for let's say 10 hours? Will it get hot? Shutdown? Etc.?
Also, which lens would you recommend for a smaller studio for 2-3 casters, chroma key as a background and of course some lighting?

Any other camera in that price range that you would recommend for live streaming of this kind?

Thank you! :)
Thanks Joseph for a another great video! When I use the GH4 to external monitor I always experienced a lag. Thought it was due to the monitor and it wasn't. Thanks for that clarification. You said that all cameras have the delay if they output to HDMI. Do you know if that is the same for camcorders as well? It seems
like being able to solo many tracks instead of just one in the ATEM software could be a solution. You still can't monitor your self together with other sources since the delay of the HDMI. One solution would be to be able to set a a individual delay or a delay on all channels in this cases 4 frames. That also means that you need to now the exact delay so everything is in sync. Ill write to this to BM so more people are asking for it the 2 features. The BMMSC seems like a great camera it's a pitty the GH4 doesn't have that. If they could manage to fix this for the GH5 it would be a huge selling point. And people didn't have to buy a BMMSC. keep up the good work! What model of the ATEM are you using? I was researching a little bit and if you only have the same delay on all the cameras and use a audio mixer this probably will do the trick https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/621077-REG/Datavideo_AD_100_AD_100_Audio_Delay_Box.html
Informative and helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for this response! I am honored to have had my question answered by you in video format! The info about the YAGH's SDI was really enlightening, as I didn't know they were reserved for external monitors only. I assumed they would do what the SDIs on the BMMSC are doing. I also thought my audio delay unit would resolve the sync issue, which it will, but does not allow me to monitor myself in sync! Bummer. Seems that even the GH5 will have this issue. I think I'll have to go BMMSC for livestream. Feel better soon!
Ben McCartney Yeah unless they've done something different with HDMI processing then yes I'm afraid the GH5 will be the same. And believe me, the SDI issue on the YAGH was a huge learning thing for me. I think hardly anyone used the damn thing which is why there's so little info out there on it. It really does come down to self monitoring. But for a one-camera show it could still work; remember you could monitor off the camera directly in realtime. It's when you add other sources in that it gets problematic.
