Vimeo + Livestream Acquisition, Drone on a Train, Profoto A1 Strobe — Photo Moment Podcast #2

Photo Moment - October 04, 2017

It's time for the second Photo Moment “podcast edition”! Today we're talking about the Vimeo acquisition of Livestream, some insane drone piloting (even though it probably was illegal), and the new Profoto A1 strobe.

A thousand bucks but when you're running a business the cost is written off as a tax expense so I just don't understand the buy cheap and save money routine for those operating a business. When paired against the SB5000 the Nikon just can't compete either for quality of light or recycle times. Try using the SB5000 at 9fps. Its useless! No such issues with the A1 with consistent exposures time after time. It's not a replacement for the B1 but then it was never designed to be a power horse to match a studio strobe. I use two on location and they're brilliant units. No complaints. (except for the magnets).
Sweet!

Hi Joseph
Up to 9fps no problem with the A1, D850 & the MBD18 grip. I'm in the process of moving next week but I'll post a video for the week commencing 19 March to highlight the performance of one against the other.

That’s great to hear. You can shoot the A1 at 9fps? That’s very impressive.

Being swedish I have to like swedish Profoto. ;=)) The A1 looks great. But I have switched to Godox. Amazing flashes with great transmitter. I guess you can´t compare a "studio light" (as they call it) to the same size from Godox. "But light it light" as they say in northern Sweden.
probably normal speed... race drone!
Livestream still better value than the new Vimeo LS service which offers less hours.
The video link for the profoto is flawed as the light meter he used does not work with hss that is why there are problems reading the light output.
PhotoJoseph check out the shoot I did with it the light has beautiful falloff and is amazing to use. The only problem is I had a little red eye on camera on one of the girls I shot but it is easy to fix and to be honest I will be using it off camera mostly. The recycle time is amazing.

Hm, even if that's true, the regular strobe test shows it's barely more powerful
