The Westcott Eyelighter ► Portrait Lighting to Beat the Competition

Photo Moment - January 26, 2018

Let's have a look at the Westcott Eyelighter reflective panel. It's perfect for portrait lighting, and especially helps light the eyes and chin area. We've brought in a model, Jakari, to show off how well it works, and to show the differences with and without!

Love the review of the equipment but OMG Jakari... I can almost bet she's married with some kids right now. 🤣
I love the eyelighter, but they have to make it collapse easier. It's great for studio but nowadays my clients don't want studio portraits as much, they want environmental stuff, so it's a pain to setup on site every time. Wish it umbrella'd out.
Yeah, totally agreed. It’s a studio tool mainly.
Thanks for the great review. I just got one and will be testing shortly and using live this weekend for yearbook photos.
sweet! I think it's great.
The eyelighter was about 30" from Jakari. How far away was your main light and at what height was it?
69.3”

Seriously… this was two years ago; I have no idea. In the video you can see the light. I have never in my life measured the distance from light to subject.
I've been using the Eyelighter for several years, and everyone loves the results. I've noticed that it's exceptionally effective for people with medium to dark complexions.
Nice! I love mine. Have you used it for video? I used it on myself in this video: https://youtu.be/0kAuDuV9K9U
Like .
It would be nice if we could see a comparison to a cheap $2.00 dollar white card from Walmart.
I have used a Triflector in the past to accomplish this. I wonder how they compare to each other as the Eyelighter is significantly more expensive.
I got a knockoff on Amazon for about $65
Ok, what is that feature that you have what tracks the eyeball...... that would be insanely helpful.
You should see the Sony Eye AF version, it does Continuous tracking that is beyond this. A game changer for sure when you can forget about focusing and pay attention to other things instead
VERY sweet!!
That’s the built-in face detection on the lumix cameras. All of them have it. Pretty sweet, right?!
I totally want one.
What do you all think? Is this the reflective panel you've been needing to give your portraits that extra bump in quality to beat the competition?
