Hello guys,
it may be that the topic has already been discussed, but I need to ask for your help.
Often I take pictures in RAW + JPEG mode.
In some projects I prefer some photos in raw format and others in jpeg. Is there a way to discard the jpeg from the raw version and vice versa? In this way I would save space on my hard drive.
Or the only way is to export and reimport all the versions in Jpeg?
Tommy
Tommy,
The answer depends on the RAW+JPEG settings you use during the import process. If you use RAW+JPEG (RAW as Master) or RAW+JPEG (JPEG as Master), you cannot separate the RAWs and JPEGs after import without doing the export->import shuffle dance you mentioned.
If you think you might want to split them up after import, use a different RAW+JPEG import setting. I believe the setting is RAW+JPEG (Both). After import you will see both the RAW and JPEG images at the same time. You can turn on Auto-Stack to stack them together and then make the one you want the stack pick. At any point you can delete the RAW or JPEG image from the stack.

Thank you Thomas,
the solution was simple, and you have shown me.
Thank you.

I’ve been struggling with this issue and finally found a way to deal with the RAW+JPEGs that have been imported in the past. Here is the discussion thread at Apple’s site. I’m the one writing about my use of the app Raw Hide at the bottom of the thread. It solved my needs quite well. I will be more disciplined about shooting only RAW or JPG in the future.

I just joined this forum when looking for answers to this dilemma about RAW images. It looks awesome. Look forward to contributing when I can.
