I wasn't aware of the ram in the MBPR having soldered in place RAM, because I run quite a few massive applications Aperture, LR, CS6 Master Collection via Creative Cloud and FCPX, Motion and Compressor I was planning on upgrading to 32GB of RAM and now I find out this is impossible, or is it?

Yes - it is true that the RAM is soldered in. FYI, 32GB of RAM isn’t an option even on a custom order of a rMBP.
