I have just purchased a 15 in MBP retina and a 27 in monitor. When I open a picture in aperature using my monitor how do I expand the picture so that it takes up the whole 27 in screen ? When I use the f key to expand it will only fills 3/4 of the screen.
When I was in the apple store recently there pictures fill the entire screen when you open a picture in iPhoto when using a 27 in monitor.
Thanks for any thoughts!

David,

If you’re on Mountain Lion, then just choose “Best for display”. If on Lion or earlier, then choose the highest resolution. That is the native resolution, and you don’t want to scale things.

The retina display scales beautifully, but we’re talking about your 27” here, which does not.

David,

Sounds like Aperture is confused on the screen resolution. Quit Aperture, maybe disconnect and reconnect the display, then launch Aperture again.

I assume the rest of your apps are filling the screen?
