I have some .MOV video files in my library that I took with my Nikon D600. I realized the time was not set correctly when I took this files, and I would now like to modify the creation date. While Aperture makes this easy for photos, the “Change Date/Time” command does not work on .MOV files.
30 minutes of searching with Google did not result in a ready answer. Any thoughts on how I could modify the creation date on an MOV file?
You can change how the date appears in Aperture, but you cannot change the date of the original file using Aperture. When you invoke the Change Date/Time command in Aperture, uncheck the box to also update original file. Your original file won’t be fixed but it will appear with the correct date inside Aperture.
I know there are utilities that can change creation dates (Mac Apps). For example, I just found this one in the Mac App Store. But I haven’t used it.
You can also use the “touch” unix command in a terminal window.
You’d need to do this change before importing into Aperture.
