Since I’ve had Aperture, I don’t really have a handle on sharpening. To be honest, I most probably never did! In the past, with Nikon Capture NX2, the program transferred all my “in camera” settings, including picture controls and the “in camera” sharpening settings. I am now quite happy about the the way aperture is handling the raw conversion but wonder if I need to add sharpening?
Is it worth my while using the camera sharpening settings, (Nikon D700), or doesn’t Aperture recognise that as well?
Lastly, If I do try to do PP sharpening with Aperture, I don’t know what the best Intensity or Radius to use
Any advice greatly appreciated

To my knowledge Aperture doesn’t recognize any of the in-camera settings except white balance. As for Intensity and Radius, one size does NOT fit all. It depends on the amount of detail in the image, the actual size of the image (a 5MP raw file will need different settings than a 10MP or 16MP raw file), and how much sharpening appeals to you.
Zoom in to 100 percent on each image, pan around, and adjust your edge sharpening settings (don’t use sharpening adjustment) to just enough that most of your critical areas are sharp. You can then add another edge sharpening brick and brush in additional sharpening in areas you feel need a little more than the “overall edge sharpening brick” is applying.
And you should know that Aperture provides NO output sharpening except in the Print dialog. There are no export settings related to sharpening. If you want export sharpening you need something like BorderFX (a free / shareware Aperture plugin).

You got me looking deeper, I had actually forgotten about the raw fine tuning “brick”, did not realise there was a “preset” there for sharpening, now I know why my raw images are quite sharp,
Don’t know how I missed he edge sharpening brick!
As for output sharpening, I do have FX and now have Nik software suite, was looking at the 2 sharpening options yesterday,

Thank you for your advice, now know all the Aperture sharpening editing options, you prompted me to look deeper into the Aperture user manual.
Its all there, pity the sharpening articles are not in the same place,
Will take notice of the page numbers next time Im in the user manual
