I was using 3.4.5 yesterday on my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.8.5 and everything seemed fine. This morning I restarted my MacBook and now when I go to the Aperture Icon in the tray and click to launch it bounces once and that’s it…no error message no nothing, including launching Aperture.
I tried launching it from the applications folder and by double clicking my Aperture Vault…all with no good results.
Of course I’m in the middle of a project and need it ASAP.
Any thoughts?
To verify the problem is not with your library, try holding down the option key when starting Aperture. If it will launch, you’ll get a dialog asking which library to open or create a new one. If you get this far, just create a new one to see if it opens. If it does, then the problem must be with your library. Next quit Aperture and restart holding the option and command keys down. You’ll get a repair dialog. Try the repair options starting with the top one first until you get results. Depending on the size of your library, these could take considerable time to execute.
If Aperture won’t launch, you’ll need to try re-installing it. You’re not on the latest release because you aren’t using MacOS X 10.9 which is apparently required for Aperture 3.5.1. I’m not sure which version Aperture bumped the minimum OS to 10.9 but that’s what is called out in the Tech Specs on Apple’s Aperture page.
Rather than deleting Aperture from Applications folder, try moving it somewhere else and reinstalling from the Mac App Store. Did you buy it from the Mac App Store?
