Dear Folks,

I have a managed Aperture Library on an external drive so I can work with it on two computers: my desktop and my laptop.

Is this OK? Are there reasons I shouldn’t be doing it?

(Existing posts on this topic involve problems with referenced libraries, multiple users and other things, none of which apply to my very simple setup.)

Thanks!

Should work fine. If you aren’t seeing any permissions problems you are good to go.

Do you have the same user name on each computer?

I know different users accessing the same library can experience permission issues which is easily fixed on an external drive by enabling “ignore ownership” for the entire drive.

Ah! You made my day, thank you. I do indeed have separate user names for each computer. I checked the drive and “ignore ownership” was already checked. Thanks so much!
