The LensShifter by Focus Shifter/Engineerable, first look

Photo Moment - October 07, 2016

The company Focus Shifter / Engineerable asked if I'd take a look at their latest product, the LensShifter. It's a simple handle that attaches to your camera lens focus and zoom rings to help you get smoother movement for video pulls.

You can check out their Kickstarter at http://kck.st/2dfSvnr and watch my first-look video here!

Thank's for the video. What do you think: Could the lensshifter work on a gimbal? My concern is that you gonna get some jutter when the shifter is moved (because the motors of the gimbal will conteract to the lever force, in particular the motor of the roll axis).
@@Cuetips1000 they’re cheap… give it a try and let us know!
@@photojoseph Thank's for reply. If the lever of the lensshifter is lightweight or has counterweights and if you use it for focus, there should be no big problem with the balance of the gimbal. BTW a gimbal can tolerate some displacements in mass centre, if these changes are negligible. Otherwise you would get balance problems by focussing itself (because if you focus, you shift elements inside of the lens and that means: you change the mass centre of the stabilized camera). I could imagine that a lensshifter for focus would work on a gimbal if the focus ring runs butter smooth and nearly non-resistant. In this case the jutter while filming and manuell focusing should be hardly noticable with wider angle lens. I have a follow focus system for my gimbal but the motor is awful loud and noisy. So I am looking for some alternatives.
Definitely would not recommend on a gimbal, for the reason you mention plus it would shift the balance every time you moved focus/zoom.
what if you have to zoom and focus at the same time?!
Then use two hands? In fact I’d say it’s easier to do both at once with these on there.
Nice gadget, reasonable price. I'm in..... Although it forced me to try my jar opener (which it reminded me of).

Haha, it actually worked except you couldn't take your hand off of it, no counter weight. Not to mention it looks silly.
+thatsaloadofcrap haha hysterical!
