Why not let the GH4 create the time lapse in-camera and then set the appropriate slide duration on the slider?

I didn’t try and I think that’d be a waste of time. One errant frame and the entire lapse is screwed up. And making the video in-camera is a fantastic feature but there are so many tools for building it after that help improve it, that I’d probably only use the in-camera as a preview if I did time-lapse seriously.

Thinking about it further...if you were to attempt doing what I'm suggesting, perhaps you'd initiate the slider sequence a tad sooner than the camera's time lapse sequence. That could help ensure the slider has fully completed it's lateral movement at the time the camera engages a shot. I guess it all really depends on the length of the video, interval timing, and how well both devices can be coordinated to perform such an action. I have a GH5, but don't have a motorized slider to test myself. Probably more trouble than what it's worth. Just thinking like the engineer that I am :)

Yes, I'm aware of the issue with motion blur if the slider is actively moving while a photo is taken. I was just curious if there was a way to sync the slider movement with the camera's time lapse intervals - although it might not be consistent if both aren't started/coordinated properly. I saw another guy on Youtube try to coordinate this (since he didn't have the sync cable), and was just wondering if maybe you tried yourself given the GH4 has great internal time lapse capabilities (prevents having to assemble pics in post).

At the end of the day, it might just be easier to use the sync cable :)

Because this way the lapse is timed with the movement. Move, shoot, move, shoot. You don’t want it moving WHILE shooting. You could get motion blur if doing long exposures.

Hi Joseph, great review! I've bought the SliderOne with motion module and connected it to My GH5 with the P1 2.5mm trigger cable, however it does not trigger the camera shutter when I'm trying time-lapse mode. I connected the cable before powering on the camera and put it in singe photo mode and the app is working as it is moving the slider correctly each frame but it's still not triggering. Are there any settings you need to put the camera in to make this work or you should just be able to plug and play? I'am assuming the camera should be in singe photo mode? Thanks in advance! :-)

+KAWA111 It stops between photos if that's what you mean. It's not moving during the exposure. I haven't tested with any really long exposure time lapses so I don't know how long it pauses for.

So weird. My app only shows a total possible travel distance of 15cm. the furthest posisiton B can go is 15cm.

+DOD Media Look at the very bottom of the app where it says POSITION A and POSITION B. Those are limiters; maybe one was inadvertently set? Just drag on the line to change it.

+Jaime Calatayud so you don't WANT long exposures there, unless you have a tracking system. Stars move; camera does not.
