IMPORTANT UPDATED INFO: As you saw in the video I didn't have UHD set everywhere, so the pearl-2 had to switch from UHD (2160p) to HD (1080p) as I switched from the live camera to the computer shortly after 5:40, and then back again from the computer to the camera just past 6:10. At those switches, there's a momentary dropout while the pearl-2 changed resolution. Once I disabled "Use current signal resolution as frame size" and forced UHD everywhere, it worked perfectly, as you can see just after 6:35. Then, starting at 6:55, you'll see me change the bitrate from 6,000 kbits to 12,000 kbits and then apply it. At the moment I applied, the stream was stopped and restarted, but YouTube handled it beautifully and there was only a momentary interruption. At that point, my YouTube bandwidth report showed "good" (which is what you want). Previously at 6k it was only showing "OK".

This unit is very, very impressive. And I should add… I am NOT being paid to promote this. Epiphan sent it to me to test and show, however I have to send it back. The only compensation I will receive is if you buy one using the affiliate link [B&H - https://bhpho.to/2kLoWx2]. That said, if you need 4K streaming and want an all-in-one solution, it's hard to argue with this. It's pretty impressive.
Very nice!
Hi Joseph, around 11:10 you took a look at the live stream on your laptop Mac. You were supposedly looking at a 4k feed. Does the mac laptop have a 4k display? If not, what's the actual resolution of your mac laptop?
+Lance Guilin Its a MacBook Pro retina and I think the actual screen pixels are 2880 wide. So not full 4k but wow it looked great!
Interesting following all this. Have you had any experience with a Vidiu?
+apntv Correct. With the VidiU Pro, I'd say half the time I try to use it I'm pissed. It usually is a case of "everything appears fine" but then the quality is bad, the signal drops, or something like that. Or if I'm trying to use it mobile (connected to my cell signal), it just won't establish a connection. I should do a full reset and start over, to be honest. Give it another fair shake. I really want it to work as I travel a lot and it'd be the most portable solution. Runs on battery, can get online using your phone's hotspot, and is tiny. So believe me, I WANT it to work!!
Joseph Linaschke interesting and disappointing, I was hoping that an 'all in one box' solution would work well but I have heard it is fiddly to setup and the support was lacking but I guess the key question I have is that once you sorted the Facebook resolution issues out are you saying it is still unreliable and doesn't always work for you?
+apntv Hm, I doubt that very much. I have two of the HD versions and they definitely support audio. But I don't have the 4K one.
+apntv Yep, I own one. Search my channel. I'm less than impressed. It seems to NOT work at least half the time. Super annoying for a $1,000 piece of gear 😡 and their tech support has been less than helpful over the year (two years?) that I've had it.
Also, is it correct that the AV.IO 4K doesn't support audio over the HDMI? If so what do you do, feed it straight into the laptop?
Its only going to 1440p
The 4K look great here in Seattle. We have a a 2 gig fiber link to your ISP. So we havea a ton of pipe
Hi Joseph from Manchester, England....... my youtube settings are saying I'm watching in 4K but obviously I haven't got a 4k monitor so I can't be but it does look very sharp on my hd monitor
Here is the Chat-Log from the Live Show

Jess Smith: Good afternoon 😃

ofir rotem: Good evening 🌃

Fine Wooden Creations: Hi !!!

Ed Starkey: First time on Joseph!!

AchitaLin: Hi there 😃

Fine Wooden Creations: THIS 4K really works!!!!

ofir rotem: You look awesome

Florian Cortese: Hi Joseph. Looking good!

Ricky Kharawala: Works pretty well!!

Jeremy Erickson: wow, getting 4k, looking good

Jeremy Erickson: getting 2160p

Jeremy Pinnix: Also getting 2160p

Jess Smith: Thanks for showing all this. I will never need it, but I now have a greater appreciation for what people who broadcast go through. It's pretty cool.

trevorpinnocky: It is pretty crispy, but I am seeing dancing noise. Is that the video compression or the camera? Just curious.

Ed Starkey: Moire on sweater, but quite sharp

Quentin Smith: I really really don't understand why BM's switchers don't support different rates on each input. Especially frame rate - they do have frame synchronizers on every input!

Martin Pitt: I'm late, dam it

AchitaLin: Looking good on 4k. Some fews lagging frames occur, dunno if it's one me or the internet. I'm quite sure your system is awesomeeeee!!

Martin Pitt: No Sully tonight. I'm shocked!

Ricky Kharawala: His beard is crispy sharp 😎

Jeremy Erickson: I'm running 200 up and 200 down fiber.. not getting any lag or buffering at 2160p

Quentin Smith: I think it may indeed be changing the frame size every time you switch. YouTube showed me the spinner every time you did that...

Florian Cortese: Getting it at 2160,p looks the same as 1080p

ClouderTV: dont you need a 4k monitor to see it

Jeremy Pinnix: Didn't see any glitch

Martin Pitt: loose feed briefly

trevorpinnocky: you're live.

AchitaLin: Yep you're live

Florian Cortese: Still live

Jeremy Pinnix: I have 950up

Jeremy Pinnix: AT&T Fiber

Jeremy Erickson: ha ha, i'm at my office and we get fiber

ClouderTV: google fiber...lol

perselmokki: 100 / 100 works fine as well

Jeremy Erickson: Yes, I upload 4k videos of 6g in like 2-3 mins

Martin Pitt: yes it jumped

Jeremy Pinnix: Clean switch for me

Martin Pitts: light gap

trevorpinnocky: There's a massive difference between 1080p and 4k. The 4k is way better.

Ed Starkey: Moire is pretty bad though. I did'nt expect this from the GH4 4K. It dropped and came back

Tom Curley: Looks fab on my iMac 27" (non-Retina) at full screen!

Florian Cortese: Clean switch

Jeremy Erickson: I'm in Boise Idaho

Ed Starkey: Jeremy, I was just in Boise on Business

Martin Pitt: it did for me, like 1 sec missing

Ed Starkey: On your shirt

Martin Pitt: I'm not seeing moire

trevorpinnocky: I think the moire and noise is the stream compression.

Florian Cortese: No moire on your shirt

Jeremy Erickson: Ed, cool, hope you liked it

Ed Starkey: It must have been because wasn't watching full screen.

Martin Pitt: 4k just shows off our wrinkles more ;-)

Jeremy Pinnix: No moiré, but seeing noise

Martin Pitt: lol

trevorpinnocky: Martin's been kicked. 😀

Jeremy Erickson: he said "our wrinkles" ha ha

Ed Starkey: Jeremy, Micron was cool

trevorpinnocky: joke

Kirk Beaumont: lol

Quality Pro Reviews: Any updates on the Webcaster X1? Have you had more time to test it out?

Real World Endo: Great job on the 4K! Have a question, someone said GH5 Continuous Focus doesn't work until you press the record button! Is that true? I assume it's wrong information.

Jeremy Erickson: Ed, yes Micron is great company, lots of my family members have worked there over the years.

trevorpinnocky: I hadn't planned on it, but I think I'll scrape together some cash and pick up the Leica 12-60 2.8-4.

trevorpinnocky: for the DFD

ClouderTV: What do you think of the Sinn8 Cage for the GH5?

Dennis Perchak: Just got a GX85 and new to ILC's. Any recommendations for the next lens?

Real World Endo: Do you think the Epiphan Pearl-2 would work with online platforms like GotoWebinar or GotoMeeting? This 4K is looking great!!!

perselmokki: Lens choice depends on what you want

Florian Cortese: Thumbs always up!!

Fine Wooden Creations: Joseph, maybe gh5 for stils? some series needs to be produces against only gh5 for video!!

trevorpinnocky: peace.

Joseph Linaschke: I did do some more testing with the X1 and it's not working for me. They do have a list of known supported configurations though

Joseph Linaschke: You may have to ask for it; not sure if it's online or not. Email them to find out if you can't find it on the website.

Joseph Linaschke: I don't have any of their known compatible cameras, so it's a no-go for me.

Joseph Linaschke: Not familiar with the Sinn8 cage, sorry. Send me a link via twitter please

Joseph Linaschke: I wil be doing lots of GH5 still tests when I get it
+Hurba Provisual Thanks, and I understand!
I meant it as a joke: They're getting busier and busier, soon it will be crazy to read. I try to be on time, but with two children I'm nearly always late. You're doing great!
