@Photo Joseph Well, I figured out a smoother pan solution, shooting in 4k/3840x2160/59.4fps/,420/8bit/LongGOP,150Mbps and rendering to 1080p at 24fps....= Smooth Pan. I can before rendering, slow the video down about 20 or more % for even smoother panning....what do you think?

I thought I would chime in on this topic since I am a big fan of using the smooth iris for shots of subjects when you move from inside to outside. First I want to point out that this iris is in both the 12-60 lenses Panasonic Offers plus the V2 12-35, V2 35-100 and the brand new 8-18 (my favorite new lens for indoor to outdoor work). Another point I want to make is that if you use the Auto video mode you run the risk of a shutter speed change that creates a stutter in the video (I noticed this in the barn pan), I usually use this feature in shutter priority since I can lock the shutter speed on angle and not have it change and only need the iris to change, this is where auto ISO with thresholds comes in handy. I set the ISO to a low of 400 (V-LOG shooter) and a high point that gets me the exposure I need for the interior (usually never higher than 3200) and Bob's your Uncle, you get incredibly smooth exposure changes without any fuss. if you don't want to use Shutter priority but you are worried about the stutter happening when the shutter changes to a faster than desirable shutter speed, you can use the flicker decrease function (the second item on page 3/4 of the movie camera tab) but the problem with this feature is it can only be used with the camera mode dial set to a photo mode (not the video camera mode). Flicker decrease allows you to set the maximum shutter speed the camera will use.

My team and I came across your channel a few months ago and appreciate your perspective on the GH5. Although we will continue to shoot with full frame canon for most of our projects, we did just add the GH5 to our work flow when shooting and integrating 360 video. The Lumix G7 convinced us Panasonic is offering a lot for very little.

More than half of our clients are realtors and although we started the company with 360 interactive web tours, we had to adapt and also offer real estate photography. A technique that offers better quality and will save you time on your real estate shots is to import your 20mp photo into Premiere pro and output in 4k or less. This allows you to create smooth 60fps pans moving around the photo, but giving the illusion of video. You will want to turn progressive off to avoid a jittery look. why not use a variable ND filter while panning and turn the filter to what is needed to lower the amount of light?

I have the non Leica - Lumix 12-60mm Kit Zoom on my GH5 and it too seems also to do this smooth aperture shift. Perhaps a trait of the camera and lens in combination. My Olympus 9-18mm opens the aperture automatically using those settings but the transition is not the same smooth transition rather little 'stepped' . Interesting. Do you know of any other lens that seem to provide this seemless transition of aperture opening as the light varies?
