To me your background is perfectly light as it is and doesn't need any dimming at all. If your aim is to show off your studio space then show it off and not semi-hide it by dimming the lighting. You, on the other hand, I would say are probably at least 1/4 of a stop under if not more as it is so more lighting would be useful I am sure. I would not change the hair light too as that made the shot look sharper than I think I have seen before.
I was wondering I know you are in to using Panasonic gear when you can but thinking for your top camera if you could use an Olympus body with their 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ Pancake zoom which I think you should be able to control remotely. I think that is the only m43 lens that has electronic zoom but I am not sure if it works on anything but Olympus bodies. I am suggesting this as it would allow you to zoom on demand without using your step.
With your live loop audio I was thinking of 2 possible solutions that should not cost much at all. I think you could either try using a Bluetooth connection or a mini AM or FM transmitter and receiver. As long as there is not too much interferance or delay introduced I would go the with Bluetooth.
PS where is your review etc of the G9 if you don't do it soon you will be too busy on the GH5s?
Oh and I do owe you all more on the G9… I have a couple of things almost ready to go.
Thanks Shawn. Let’s see… overall lighting; yeah I do need to tweak still. Agreed the foreground is a little dark. I hadn’t actually adjusted settings at all from the other room so I was surprised it looked as good as it did! For audio; you mean wireless monitor? I have to have zero latency because I’m monitoring myself. So I need a radio transmitter. I know which one to get but it’s a few hundred $$. I’ll get it eventually. For the zoom; I do own that power zoom Oly lens actually. I don’t use it here because a) it’s a very low largest aperture and so needs a ton of light and has very poor bokeh, b) it’s variable Aperture to my exposure changes as I zoom unless I lock at the 5.6 setting so the bokeh is even less, and c) even though I can zoom it from the ATEM, I can’t program the zooms into macros, making it less useful for me.

Thanks for watching and the sharing your thoughts!!
Congrats for the new setup. What bitrate are you using for your YouTube streaming? It looks even crispier and clearer than before. Is the encoder still Wirecast or Pearl 2?
Pearl-2 and it’s at 8Mbit now. Thanks!
Congrats, Joseph, on the new space.
Thanks!
@PhotoJoseph, it's cool to see the result of what "we" have done together with other people. I really like your setup, specially all the multi camera stuff. I agree with other live comments... better darken a little the background and take care of the audio hum (maybe a simple LPF could help, only need to search what are the frequencies involved). I think it could be caused by the signal/noise factor, because to me it seems you have a low voice volume: I have my volume here almost at maximum for understanding what you say. Sorry for not showing live, but I was in a very important meeting (restructuring my business in these days). See you all the next time! Cheers
Thanks man, and thanks for all your help! The audio noise is a fan from next door. That’s a constant and we will work to EQ it out. We’ve already hung the audio blankets back up which will help a little. Darkening the background will require more light up front so if that happens it’ll be a little while. As to dialog levels, those seemed fine on the meters but we will keep on tweaking!
