curious! don't take this like an "attack", just wondering what benefit did shooting this in prores raw afford the post?
(other than the views! 😂😂)

For this project; nothing. This is part of a workflow series and I needed something to shoot. When I can, I prefer to shoot something more interesting than just some plastic bobbleheads on my desk.
Thanks for the video! I bought the GH7 since it came out and before I try to shoot in RAW for the first time I wanted to see some footage. I'm shooting currently in MOV in V LOG but I still found the image to look over sharped digitally and I was wondering if when shooting in RAW you get a little bit less of that digital look?
@ Hey 😃 many thanks for the response! Now I really want to try to shoot in RAW with the GH7! Can’t find many videos about that besides from yours so I will do my testings over here too. Thank you very very much👍
Yes, it will look less sharp. Although when shooting V-Log, while you used to have to turn down sharpening, I’m pretty sure (check it, please) that sharpening isn’t even an option in V-Log now. Noise reduction and sharpening isn’t applied to the raw data, so with ProRes RAW you’ll have a very pure image. Blackmagic RAW tends to have more of that baked in though. Curious differences between the two (and why many say that BMD Raw isn’t really RAW!)
this interview lightning is so creepy ;). i could not stop thinking about this instead of listening to what he was actually saying. Still love your Lumix videos though.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for all of your help!!
What a promo video. <chef's kiss>, the edit/pace and quality (lighting inside/outside), very slick. But not slick in a deceptive way, slick in a humble honest way. It IS what it is.
Wow, THANK YOU. That’s immensely complementary. I very much appreciate you.
Man, I’m curious to know your ProRes RAW workflow in DaVinci Resolve! 👀 I always try to avoid ProRes RAW because I hate having to transcode it to ProRes 4444 or convert it to CinemaDNG.
Yo Aaron! It does have to be converted but it's not tedious and the files can actually be smaller than the ProRes RAW originals, depending on how far you squeeze the files. That video drops on Monday! (although, channel members at the "early access" level get to watch it now 😬)
Wow, this is fantastic Joseph. What an interesting business, I bet they are doing well.
It's been super popular so far! I'm really happy for them.
All looks like 1.1.5 stops underexposed just to protect some highlights that don't matter at all in the scene, and all was like contrast was slammed -25% to get even flatter grey on everything.
It was annoying to watch the scene with man telling story, when 60-70% of him is just black shadow, and side under light is again underexposed.

Everyone’s a critic. Or, it was shot at night, and I embraced the moody look. I hope you didn’t watch “The Batman”. You would have HATED that.
Looks great Joseph. I'm hoping the Shinobi II gets EL Zone like the Ninja V
@@photojoseph It's like false color but more accurate. SmallHD has it in their monitors also Panasonic has it in the Vari Cam. Atomos has it in the Ninja V. It was created by Ed Lachman, ASC. I love it as it works in stops of light. I learned about it from DP Shane Hurlbut ASC. It's very much like Ansel Adams zone system which I use to use in photography. I emailed you a link.
Well ill be a shinobi2 knowing it has record control all my ninjas!?. Can i use it recording control different frame rate ninjas?Magnificent video.🤯🫡💯Thank
@@photojoseph we've been having a lot of trouble getting camera control to work on Panasonic S5iiX with the Shinobi II. Any tips as to why we only ever see a camewra icon with an x in it on the Shinobi II? Support really appreciated!
The Shinobi can start/stop recording in your camera. The Shinobi II is a monitor, not a recorder. So basically a ninja for people who don’t need recording in the ninja.
