New RØDECaster Video — SHOCKINGLY good!

Photo Moment - September 24, 2024

The newest addition to the live streaming space has me all kinds of excited… this RØDECaster Video is an extremely impressive piece of hardware. But, is it better than the ATEM Mini Extreme or YoloLiv YoloBox Ultra?

Yolobox Extreme has 8x HDMI inputs… all in 4K.
I don’t believe there is a Yolobox Extreme. The ATEM Extreme has eight HDMI inputs, which is what I said. The YoloBox Ultra has four.
Was the audio delay on the master output or per input? On my ATEM I need to use both audio inputs so I can have one delayed for lip sync but one at 0ms for video playback.
I saw a fader there for audio level of the onboard media player, but if that audio gets delayed at the master it would throw out the video sync. Surely it's per input?
Hi. How is the latency? Can it be used for IMAG and live events?
Thank you for the review! Do you know if a POE++ switch will provide enough power to drive the RodeCaster-Video then via ethernet alone?
I'd like to see a deep dive into this thing, especially with using the rode wireless pro mics
Yeah I do want to dive into that more!
Handsdown the best presentation video from the Rodecaster Video, and I've watched some today. Photo Joseph at it's best, what a joy :-)
Aw thank you sir! I really appreciate that!
So good to see alternatives are still coming... not in the market right now, but I wanna see if I can build up my studio with my growing output. The price though.. not too sure about that, the features are wonderful though and would be perfect for my specific usecase for sure. Looking forward what you will feature next. The automated switching could be quite interesting when having a multiroom setup going and you for example go from the workshop to the desk to the 3d printer without having to keep switching by hand maybe.
@@photojoseph I have a whole bunch of things going on right now and a very simple setup that needs some upgrading. and my budget is quite tight, but that would be so cool to be able to do and I mean it basically should now work. good thing to look forward to. I will set stuff up hopefullysoon for some basic tests and with a mix of ndi and cable, should be good enough to get a feel for it.
That’s a cool use case for auto switching! I think that’d be a great way to demo it by myself, actually. And yeah it’s not cheap BUT it’s very fair priced vs the competition. And you can still get smaller, less capable switchers for less as well. An lots of Chinese no-name stuff for even less.
Deep dive into features and comparison to Yolo Ultra :D
This is impressive ... but the price is a bit on the steep side especially for us 2nd and 3rd country audience ...
It’s a lot of power in that box. I think compared to the competition it’s extremely reasonable. I know it’s still a lot of money, but of course there are cheaper, less capable switchers on the market, too.
If the government would stop taxing me to the hilt, I would be going to the ball.
There are charming 3rd world countries that will welcome your relative wealth.
Can’t help ya there, amigo!
I thought Yolobox is the best :O
It’s still a VERY good option, and if want its features, then it’s still the best option!
Wow, awesome
Thanks 🤗
It is a very exciting video and news. I was expecting a product like this from Rode, but this device seems to have features that exceed my expectations. The next video can be a comparison video with Atem Mini Extreme and Yolobox Ultra.
Awesome and thanks for the suggestion!
I am conserved the power adapter is usb c and no locking connection…

They do not also have the ecosystem advantage BMD has
They actually do have a lock that’s in one of their marketing photos; they did not send that to me though. And correct; I pointed that out in the wrap-up.
It is interesting and exciting. I fwill personally be sticking to Blackmagic products. Have to reconsider how reliable it will be overtime and the updates and bug fixes etc. Coming from atem it doesn’t look the most intuitive to learn all of the features much shouldn’t be a long learning curve.
"Reliable" is not a word I'd associate with BMD.
Can’t disagree with that!
Thanks for the video. Can you mention how does it handle rtmp streaming? What's the output quality? What type of encoding does it do for recordings? Does it support multiple platforms? Also with an external battery powering it how long can a livestream at 1080p last ? I saw a bluetooth icon and you mentioned it can utilize a mobile microphone, can it route phone calls ?
1. High/medium/low quality; bitrates aren’t visible
2. Encoding type not shown
3. RMTP so anywhere
4. MP4
5. See 3
6. Look at the battery in the video — it shows estimated time.
7. No idea
excited to hear your thoughts!
