Library corrupts files at import #1

Need some help….

Upgraded to Aperture 3…all worked fine after the dot release. Last 3 imports into my primary Library from Nikon 300 and Nikon 300s load great but when I click on a pic and it finishes “loading” the entire pic changes to a dim or grayish tint for the entire pic. The thumbnail looks okay but when viewed larger the dim/gray tint shows up. I took this issue to an apple genius to troubleshoot. We loaded the same pics in a new library without an issue.

I recently tried to load to my primary library again and same issue (dime and gray). Soooo, this looks like something is being triggered in my import (as my 80k previous photos in the same library do not show the same issue. I have validated on my import settings that my adjustments show none. What else can I do to find out what the culprit is for my photos. I can continue to use a new library but would rather load to my primary. Could I have set some type of preset?

Thanks for any help from the brainware on the site!

Bob,

Did you happen to check your RAW Fine Tuning? Although I have a hard time imagining an adjustment in there that would do what you’ve described, if you’ve somehow created a new default then it wouldn’t show up as an adjustment. It’s at the top of your Adjustments list. Click the gear menu and make sure it’s set to “Apple – Camera Default”. If it is, then I suppose the next thing try is to rebuild the library by holding option-command on launch. Go for the first then middle option first; repair permissions then database. The third one, rebuild, is a bigger stick.

I’d be interested to know if you dragged a test project out of your test library (where the images are importing fine) and then back into the library where it’s not working fine, if the images still look OK or if they go wonky. Then try a lift/stamp from a good image to a bad one, see what happens.

Just for curiosity sake.
