I am having a heckuva time getting my new watermark to work with A3.
First it would upscale the logo on the vertical images, making it fit the entire horizontal edge. This was bad, and after remaking the preset a few times it finally stopped doing this. Now it only does it every once in a while, it looks like on older photos taken with my point-n-shoot camera. The images are similar resolution, so I have no idea why it drastically changes the size on output…
Another question regarding the “scale” check box… I am trying to use a watermark logo I have made and I want it to output to the images at the same exact size I made it.
When I use the :Scale: button, it makes the watermark appear perfectly great on the horizontal images, but on the vertical images the watermark becomes TINY. Checking or unchecking the scale button does not seem to help much.
Any idea? Thanks!!!
Matt,
Honestly the watermarking feature in Aperture leaves a lot to be desired. However I have one watermark that I successfully use in Aperture 3 for a variety of image size exports.
My watermark is 600 x 23 pixels and is a PNG file; text over transparency. I just checked my export presets and I’m using it in a “fit within — 800 x 800” and “— 1200 x 1200”, which I export horizontal and vertical images from. I have scaling turned OFF on both of them. Just for kicks I just turned scaling ON on the 1200 preset, and the exported watermark was super small. I don’t have any idea what the logic is for scaling on the export, to be honest. But if you have a 600 pixel watermark and you apply it to an image that’s 600 pixels wide or 6,000 pixels wide, the watermark will always be 600 pixels wide.
Oh and it works just fine on both horizontal or vertical outputs.
I hope that helps,
