Show Focus Points changes time #1

Hi,
I shot some images in Australia last year. The time and dates on the original images were correct. When I select “Show Focus Points” from the VIEW menu it shows me the focus points, as it is supposed to but it also changes the time zone. This makes the image change places in the lineup.
Anyone else notice this? Is there a work-around if it's not me doing the wrong thing?
Note: I'm using a Nikon D90 and images were loaded while I was using Aperture 2, I am now using the up-to-date version of Aperture 3.

Roger,

I tried to reproduce it to no avail on photos imported from Aperture 2. Any more info on your end?

No, nothing else to add. Thanks for working on this with me.

Roger,

Curious… where are you seeing the time zone change? AFAIK there’s no “time zone” metadata field, but it does show up under the Date: metadata [screenshot]—is that what you mean?

I just tried and am not seeing a change there on my system.

Does the same thing happen with images you’ve imported since using Aperture 3, or is this only on images that were imported back in Aperture 2?

Finally, do you see the same thing happen if you hit the menu command like you’re doing, vs clicking the icon on the Metadata tab? [screenshot]

Thanks for the reply.
Here is the situation:
I used a Nikon D90 with the time correctly set and the correct time zone.
I imported the image from the SD card to my MacBook Pro the same day.
I think that the MacBook Pro was also set to the correct time zone and time.
I had an up-to-date version of Aperture 2 at that time.
I now have Aperture 3, and have had it for about 6 months.
I just did this:
I took a look at the metadata of Image DSC_9766 and is shows: Date: 4/16/10 3:08:58 PM HST.
While watching the Date readout in the metadata part of the Inspector I hit the option and F keys to “SHOW FOCUS POINTS”.
As I hit those keys I can see the date metadata change to EDT from HST.
Right now, my MacBook Pro is set to the correct time and time zone, which is EST.
Note that the picture was taken in the Hawaii Time Zone and Aperture changed it to Eastern Daylight Time.

I’m going to do an experiment:

I am going to set my camera to New Zealand Time.
I am going to take 3 images
I am going to import these images into my Mac which will be set to NZ time.
I am going to close Aperture then restart the Mac.
I am going to change to EST.
Restart
Then take a look at the Change Focus Point situation.

This won’t change what is happening to me now but I can see if this is something that happens in an all Aperture 3 environment.

You travel a lot, could you try looking at the Date metadata when you hit the option-F keys?

I’ll get back to you about my experiment.

Thanks,
Roger

I did the experiment that I mentioned in the previous post. This glitch does not happen now.

I would still like to hear is someone else could try looking at Focus Points when the image was captured in another time zone and originally imported into Aperture 2.

Thanks,
Roger
