Can music that has been added to the project split viewer be edited in Aperture or does one have to create clips in an external program, then add them to one's project?
You can trim the audio in the slideshow only if you add it to the BOTTOM of the row of images. This is mean for more control, like voiceover, but you can add anything you like there. If you add it to the TOP of the thumbnails, it becomes “background” music and then yes, as far as I know, it just plays until it runs out.
