Can Aperture be tethered to my camera (Canon XSi) and automatically take photos at a predetermined interval? I'm trying to build a time sequence.

Tina,

According to this article on Apple, tethering is supported for the Canon XSi.

However there is no interval shooting built into Aperture. You can trigger the shutter, but not automatically. That said, it may be possible through AppleScript, but I don’t know of a way offhand.

You may want to consider purchasing a shutter release with an intervalometer built-in. Canon makes a very expensive one, but also there’s a third party one that’s a LOT cheaper, and from what I hear, works great. Go to my gear page at photojoseph.com/gear and click on Triggers and Remotes. The cheap one is currently $18.98, vs. the Canon one at $144.95!!

That way you won’t have to have your computer tethered to the camera while shooting your sequence, either.
