Since upgrading to Lion, I am having problems getting accurate colors to print with my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I have the latest printer driver, and my screen is calibrated. One particular image has printed correctly in several different previous versions of the operating systems and versions of Aperture. With this image, I am getting a general redish cast throughout. I am also working with Epson to see if this could be caused by the printer or printer driver.
I would appreciate any ideas regarding how to fix this.
Thanks -

Dudley,
You’re on the right track talking to Epson. You can isolate it more though by trying to print from other applications. Does it print red from Preview or Photoshop? If so, it’s safe to say it’s an Epson issue. If it prints fine in those but not in Aperture, then it’s likely an Aperture issue.

I was able to get a good print of the image with Photoshop CS5. I rebooted my iMac and tried to print again in Aperture, but the results are the same. The print is drastically different than it should be - lighter and with a reddish tint. I used the same paper and printer driver for both prints. Do you have any ideas regarding what might be going on?
Thanks -

Dudley,
Can you try again out of Preview? This will tell us if it’s Core Image or something Aperture specific.

Preview produced the same results as Aperture.

Dudley,
Thanks for testing. That’s good info, and I’ve passed this along to Apple. Not much else we can do for now, but please do keep on with Epson just in case it really is their issue!

Thanks for trying to figure this out. It seems like it has to be a software issue since the print comes out fine using CS5. In this case, its good I have CS5 to be able to make the print since there is a deadline for the exhibit this print will hang in. Since I rely on Aperture for the majority of my work flow, this is disappointing.
