Aperture has stopped showing the images of files held in the Trash. The number count is correct and the invisible files delete, but it is disconcerting to not know exactly what is being deleted! Any suggestions?

Re-boot, if that doesn’t work then check out the FAQ for the Database repair. Ive had that happen once before and I think the reboot helped

Thanks DBmoore. Rebooting didn’t work - I noticed an old search still operating in the Trash folder with parameters that did not match the deleted images! Why it applied itself to the Trash I am not sure, but the problem is solved.
