Aperture and GF1 Tethering #1

Hi all

While I know that Aperture does not yet fully support four thirds formats and has limited support for Panasonics, has anyone done any tethering with a Lumix TZ7 or GH1? The camera links to Aperture to import JPEGs and just shows the ACCESS icon on the LCD. I received my GF1 today and am trying to understand the limitations between Aperture and the camera

Thanks
Rob

Robin,

Personally I don’t know about those cameras, and I’m sure many of us are hoping for expanded tethering support in Aperture 3. My two primary cameras, the EOS 1Ds Mk III and 5D Mk II aren’t supported for tethering either—it’s a nightmare! When I shoot tethered, I still have to use Canon’s own EOS Utility (which is beyond embarrassingly bad) along with Aperture Hot Folder from automator.us.

I’ve been reluctant to write up any details on this workflow just because I am hoping beyond hopes that it is soon rendered obsolete… and I’m trying to focus on workflows that I don’t expect to change the moment we see Aperture 3.

If people really need to see how that works, I can write something up. But in your case, you’ll need to figure out how to tether the camera to your computer, and use the script above to get the pictures from your computer into Aperture.
