I have nominated photoshop as an external editor but when I select it my aperture jpeg gets converted to tiff. Why can’t I I just transfer my aperture jpeg to be a jpeg in photoshop?
There’s two parts to setting the External Editor. Choosing what app to use, and also what format. You can’t choose JPEG though as the format, because that’s not a good format to edit in.
If you look at menu Aperture > Preferences… > Export you can choose between PSD and TIF, both in 8-bit or 16-bit. If you want to save your layers in Photoshop, choose PSD. And unless you have a really good reason to choose 16-bit, choose 8-bit.
