So I’m converting over to Mac and I believe I have a very simple (and stupid) question. I can’t seem to find where aperture is putting my picture files on the hard drive. Can someone tell me where to go to find these?

The default location is in the Aperture Library in the Pictures folder. In Finder it will be under User home directory. You can also do a search in Spotlight for Aperture Library to find where it is. You can move the library to an external hard drive if you wish.

Rebecca,

Milt is pointing you to the Aperture library, which is (by default) where your images are being stored—inside of that Library. There are choices in Aperture on how your master files are managed, but the easiest way is to let Aperture store them inside of its own archive, which is most likely what you’re doing.

I’d recommend my In-Depth Getting Started eBook for an in-depth look at how images are stored in Aperture (and what your options are).

Welcome to the the Mac, and to Aperture!
