In their book Image Sharpening, Fraser and Schewe describe their approach to output sharpening. In essence, they believe it to be an algorithmic process based on pixel halo size. Others are so sure of this technique that their (PixelGenius') algorithms are build into Lightroom 3. For printing, the user just selects the type of paper and the strength of sharpening (high, standard, low) and the math does the rest.
Aperture gives the user control of sharpening amount and radius for printing.
How can one apply the PixelGenius approach (sharpening halos of between 1/50” and 1/100”) using Aperture?

Robert,
It sounds like PixelGenius is using their own special sauce for sharpening (which makes sense since they are selling a plugin). So, it’s unlikely you could replicate the same sharpening technique in Aperture natively. You could try contacting the manufacturer to see if they are developing an Aperture plug-in.
There are other sharpening algorithms out there, too. Check out the tools from Nik Software; those seem to be quite popular.
