Hi,
is there a way in Aperture 3 to change the color channel?
I need to swap the red & blue channels…
So it would change from RGB to BGR
In a common photo editing program I do this:
I go to the red color channel an adjust the channel from RED 100 BLUE 0 to RED 0 BLUE 100
and
at the blue color channel I change from RED 0 BLUE 100 to RED 100 BLUE 0
and thats it.
Is there a way I can do this with Aperture? If not - maybe there are special plugins that can do this?
Cheers
Yogie
Yogie,
Interesting… but I don’t see a way to do that. If I understand correctly, you’re going into the Channel Mixer in Photoshop, and setting red to 100% blue, and blue to 100% red, correct? Which is basically the same as copying the Red channel data into the Blue channel, and vice-versa.
I poked around in Levels in Aperture and while you can invert the ramp, you can’t move one to the other.
If I’m understanding your request, I’m afraid that Photoshop (or something similar) is your only option. If you’re trying not to spend the money on Photoshop, check out Acorn, a free, open source image editor. I haven’t used it myself but have heard good things, and perhaps it does what you need here (for free). But of course you still have to do the “Open in Editor” in Aperture to get there.

Rutger,
Changing the blue and red hues are different than changing the blue and red channels. Unfortunately it doesn’t solve the problem for these folks.

You could try it with the color adjustment brick and change the hue for red to blue and the hue of blue to red.
I too am trying to get there. The process is used for IR processing especially in Faux Color IR. I use Ap3 & Nik for most of my processing. Only use PE (vs 6) on rare occasions with no desire to get the full version of PS. Hopefully they will add it at some point or someone will come up with a plug-in / preset to do it.
Yogie,
When you have a chance, can you please let us know how you decided to work around this issue? I am also an Aperture uset who will need this functionality for faux color IR.
Thanks!
