Hi - - I shoot a fair amount of film, which I then scan.
Do you know of a good way to make pseudo-exif data for film-based photos? Like your tip #4, I have been jamming a bunch of information into the file names (though using something called filewrangler…). It is okay but not really all that practical because (1) I would like to save this into the metadata rather than a file name and (2) I would like to capture image-specific info like the lens, filter, and exposure settings.
Thanks very much!
Hi, have a look at AnalogExif (http://analogexif.sourceforge.net) as well which is free. Works for me – chokes on RAW-files often (when I want to put in lens-data for my non-digital lenses I use on my D70s…)

Tim,
You need an EXIF editor. You can’t do this in Aperture, but you can edit the EXIF before importing, and Aperture will read all that data.
I don’t have first-hand experience with any, but looking through the Mac App Store, this one has good ratings and is only $9.99: ExifChanger - Marc Rochkind.

Great - Looks like that will do the trick, and/or a different app by the same developer: Ingstamatic. Will explore both.
Thank you
