Okay, I've made the long overdue switch to Aperture. Has somebody got a good tutorial for importing all the iPhoto items into Aperture and do all the rename at the same time?

I didn't see anything posted, maybe I just looked in the wrong spots.

Thanks, Mark

Mark,

No, and I’ve been a bad boy… I have promised for over a year to write one, and never did finish it. At this point, I likely won’t until the next Aperture is released, just so I don’t have to rewrite the book shortly after it’s done.

Fortunately there are loads of forum posts on here about it, so you’re not alone in the quest.

I will say this though… if you have a large, complex iPhoto library, start clean in Aperture and just go back to iPhoto as needed until you have a really good grasp of Aperture, and only then do the conversion of your old Library. If you spend your first few months messing around with old photos in Aperture and trying to clean up the Aperture library, you’ll discover ways you should have done things later down the road, and likely end up re-doing a lot of work.

Focus on learning Aperture for now, keep your old photos in iPhoto for the time-being, and make the move later on.

Thanks Joseph, I’ll try that, but being a type A type, my eagerness
usually wins out. I guess as long as I don’t delete the iPhoto
library, or back all the files up some place else, I can always delete
my Aperture library and start over.
