Web Galleries 'regenerate' after deletion! #1

I am trying to “clean up” my Aperture library and am trying to delete about 10 galleries. I do so, they disappear from the list and a minute or two later they are right back there (sometimes two of the same!). I decided to try to delete through MobileMe and under the Albums section all the ones I have “deleted” show up as gray squares without an image and with an icon of an eye crossed out. I click to “delete” and get a message that says “unable to connect to MobileMe” suggesting further that there is actually an Internet or connection problem (which there is not). There is a radio button to “reload” which does not work. I have been struggling with this for weeks with no results. Any suggestions…please? THere have been 26 views of this question on the Apple Forums site and no replies…so this may be a new quirk!

STG,

Curious, and thanks for posting that pseudo-fix. I think it’s worth contacting Apple to find out why your MobileMe galleries aren’t behaving online at this point.

I have been having the exact same issues when trying to clean up my Galleries. Photos keep reappearing, no matter how I try to delete them. I too have not yet upgraded to Lion or iCloud and am still using Aperture 2. I was interested to see if you all knew a solution.
BTW, I will be very sad to have to say good-bye to MobileMe Galleries in June. Not sure what I will use that will serve my many varied purposes in the same way.

Susan,

Have you tried all the suggestions listed here yet?

STG,

You’re talking about MobileMe galleries, correct? I assume then you have NOT made the transition to iCloud?

Let’s try this… in Aperture, go to menu File > Web Accounts > Disable Mobile Me. Turn it off, let Aperture clear it out of the main Library view, then turn it back on. See how that goes.

I was SO excited…thought that worked. Quit Aperture, opened it again and there they all are back.
And, yes, I have not made the transition to iCloud, or Lion.

STG,

OK let’s try another step. Do the same thing in Aperture (disable, delete and quit) and then go to MobileMe website and see if you can now delete.

If not, try opening iPhoto, and enabling MobileMe there, and see if it syncs up and makes any difference.

I have upgraded all my systems so I have no way of looking at the screens you’re seeing so unfortunately my ability to help may be limited :(

Nothing worked…until I found a reference in some forum to solving a vaguely related problem by UNchecking (in Aperture’s preferences) under ‘Web’: “automatically check for newly published albums”. That seems to have done it!!!
All the galleries still show up on my MobileMe gallery at me.com. They are greyed out and if I click on one I get the message: Unable to connect to MobileMe etc.
But they are gone, for the time being anyway, from Aperture.
Thanks for trying to help.
