Sorry to bother you - I am using Power Mail as my email client and in Aperture I only get Micorsoft Outlook ar MAC Mail as options. Is there a way I can use Power Mail?
Cool. Does Power Mail have the ability to scale images in an outgoing message? One of the neat things you can do with Apple Mail is downscale images that you’ve dragged into a message right within the compose window, like this: [screenshot].
So then if you want to try my suggestion of dragging right onto the mail icon, you could scale it down from there.
Unfortunately if your mail client isn’t listed, then it’s not supported. I believe it’s because Aperture utilizes scripting to create a new message with your photo attached, and your mail app may not have the right hooks in it.
I would suggest that the best way to utilize it is, instead of using the “mail” button in Aperture, to simply drag a photo from Aperture onto the PowerMail icon in the dock. Most mail apps will create a new message and attach whatever you dragged onto it’s icon automatically.
For this to work you’ll have to have previews enabled in Aperture, or at least a preview created for that image. If you’re not familiar with what that means then chances are it’s already on, but just in case, you can read this article on the topic: A Comprehensive Look at Thumbnails, Previews, and More in Aperture 3
Thank you Joseph; I suspected as much; I simply export the image to the desktop at the moment (having full control exactly what I export and the size of the export) than drag it into the message in Power Mail. Works, just not as quick :-)
