I'm having this long-term, annoying issue where Photo Stream won't stay enabled in Aperture after a MacBook Pro restart. As long as I don't restart the computer, things are fine, but once I reboot, then Photo Stream becomes disabled. I've scoured the web for tips and fixes, and have tried them all, and still can't find a real fix. Right now, I'm in the midst of trying the tips on here:

I just use Aperture on one machine and have turned off the Photo Stream on my Apple TV. I've deleted the iLife asset caches and plists multiple times to no avail. Anybody have this same issue?

Glen,

There have been a few reports to this, and I don’t know that anyone has solved it yet.

Have you tried completely resetting Photo Stream? I outlined a complete reset in this post: Aperture 3.2.3 Update—Delete From Photo Stream.

I’ll give the Photo Stream reset a try tonight. I have now gone through all the steps in the link that I posted above except for a library rebuild (I have repaired it multiple times though!). Not sure if this matters, but I’m using the non-Mac App Store version of Aperture as I had it before the App Store came online.

Performed the full reset (deleted iCloud data from all idevices and reset it on iCloud.com) and still no joy. Only thing I haven’t tried is a full rebuild of the library.

Glen,

Before you do that, you could create a new Library, and turn it on there, and test with that. That’ll tell you if it’s your Library or something else going on.

Finally found a fix! I reinstalled Lion on a formatted hard drive, and now Photo Stream in Aperture works like it should! Disappointed that I had to take the nuclear route, but I’m happy I finally found a fix!

To summarize: clearing caches didn’t work, resetting iCloud didn’t work, creating new library didn’t work. Only reinstalling Lion from scratch and reinstalling Aperture worked!

Glen,

Thanks for the update. What a drag you had to go that route but I’m glad it fixed it. I wonder what really was the problem; what the reinstall did fix.
