hello. I have spent a few days trying to figure out how to get my inspector in order.

when I try to move an item in the inspector pane, it will only let me move that project to the top, just under the smart folders.
I dont know why it willnot let me arrange by date, or alphabetically, or manually. I tried all this but the thing just seems to be random. When I add projects, they go to random places.
I tried the setting and even photos I took last week are misdated and not in any consistent manner. For example, last week I had two days of shooting; I used a 7D on both occasions, one card got placed in 2007, the other in 2010.the projects appear lost in the list even tho I named them. In the project viewer, there is no reason to where they appear at all. why is this? how can I re organize all this?

I am trying to get this organized. I use to just drop the one I was working on so it would appear at the top of the list and then try to remember them from there, but now I have a couple of years worth of projects accumulating.

I dont know if it is related or not but I have had some other anomalies. Its prolly my lack of experience with the program.
I would appreciate any tips on where I can go to read about this and get my assets in order soon, Im facing a major pile up.
any help will be much appreciated
Scott

Scott,

We’ll try to help. As far as training, you can check out the Live Training catalog, and I think that session 003 may help you.

However I want to ask; have you tried changing your project sort order? [screenshot] — even if it’s the way you want it to be, change it then change it back. That might help.

If that doesn’t do it, try trashing your preferences. Read about that in this FAQ entry.
