I am currently making my first wedding book, and when I started it only took one click on an image for its six resizing points to appear. Now when I click once on an image it is surrounded with a white border and no resizing is possible. If you double click that brings up the crop and move feature as normal.
I have a feeling there is a silly & simple answer, but what?

The book making tool in Aperture has two modes: Edit Content and Edit Layout. In Edit Content mode it operates as you describe. You need to switch to Edit Layout mode to be able to change image position and size on the page.
Look for the two buttons at the top left of the window where the book is previewed.
