Sharpening vs Definition #1

When do you use one or the other. I seem to be under the impression that sharpening would be better, for example on a flower. But, that definition would be better if that flower had dew or water drops on it to make them “pop”.
What is your experience with this?

Hi Charles

You could always buy Joseph’s tutorial No20 where he gives his answer and where the buzzing noise isn’t nearly as intrusive as he makes out. But like Joseph I find definition usually does all I need and I seldom use sharpening.

Try them, side by side and see what you like - nobody else can tell you (what you like, that is).
