Hi Everyone,
When I open a RAW image, the “loading” symbol is shown at the top of the screen. Once loaded, the image tends to be less sharp than while “loading” is in progress.
My guess is that while loading, Aperture is displaying the camera-generated preview which may have in-camera sharpening and saturation applied. Once the “loading” indicator disappears, I'm seeing the true RAW file..
Is this correct?
Cheers
Darryn
Yes once the file is done loading you are looking a a truer version of the Raw. Not sure why you would get a less sharp image after its loaded! iS that what you see in the split browser?

Darryn,
As DBmoore said, you are correct about what you’re seeing. As far as it being softer though, have you tried viewing at 100%? A high rez file on a low rez screen will certainly mean it’s scaled down a LOT when viewing if you’re not at 100% (1:1), so maybe that’s the softness you’re seeing.
Go to 100% and ensure the image is as sharp as you expect and see how things look there.
