Smart Album - Exif Data Camera Make #1

Hoping this is something someone can help me with.

I use a lot of smart albums for organising my images. One of the Smart Albums I like to have is for camera make so I can separate the point and shoot images from the rest. For this I created a smart album using the EXIF filter - camera make and then I add the P&S make.

I now want to replicate the process for another camera, but for some reason, even if I enter the other camera make exactly as is written in the metadata it is not finding any images, even though there are thousands. I've played around with this time and again and simply cannot for the life of me figure out why this filter is working for one camera and yet not for another.

anybody got any good suggestions? What am I missing?

Thanks!
Sarah

ETA I haven't yet upgraded to 3.3, so this is a 3.2.4 Library Smart Album. Is this functionality still available in 3.3?

Sarah: 2 things. 1: Be sure nothing else (like rankings) is checked off in your smart album data-points. 2: You might try camera model. 3: (I guess 3 things) I have had one or the other camera that just did not show up either. Once I got around that by using camera model and a bit less information than showed up in the meta data. In other words–I just used a bit of the “first” information in the meta data.

Sarah,

You’re seeing this problem in 3.2.4? I spotted this in 3.3 and am waiting for confirmation. I no longer have a big library on 3.2.4 so can’t go back and test unfortunately. I was sure this was a new issue in 3.3.

Try doing a database repair as well to see if that helps (it did not for me, but it’s still worth trying).

Thanks for the help.

Vidpixarts, yes, of course I had checked everything before posting the thread. I even tried camera serial number as well as camera model and camera make. I also tried include vs is in the search. I also duplicated the original album where it was working and then changed the camera make and saw nothing. Created new albums and got nothing.

I’ll try doing the database repair Joseph and I see if that fixes it.

I did a database repair, clearly something to do from time to time as performance seems to have improved (not sure if it’s my imagination or not!).

Well, it seems that database repair has fixed this little problem, at least in 3.2.4. Must remember to do that first before posting in future. Thanks for the help.

That’s great Sarah, thanks. Maybe I’ll try another repair on mine.

I find choosing camera MODEL will give me a smart album when CAMERA MAKE won’t.

Vidpixarts as I said in an earlier, neither camera make, model and serial number were working.

I have now done the upgrade to 3.3 and Joseph it seems to be working OK in 3.3 too.

Sarah,

Great news. I did a complete rebuild last night again and now my search is working, too. Success for all!
